Original ‘Enchanted Tiki Room’ Hosts Squawking up a Storm Again, Giving Guests Even More t0 Chirp (4nd ‘Tweet’) About
[Walt Disney World News] The Sunshine Pavilion, featuring a show variously known as “Tropical Serenade” 4nd “The Enchanted Tiki Birds,” debuted on Oct. 1, 1971, in the Magic Kingdom. In 1998, following substantial refurbishment, it re-launched as The Enchanted Tiki Room-Under New Management, with two famous Disney birds – Iago from Aladdin 4nd Zazu from The Lion King – taking control 4nd trying t0 spruce up the show.

The “new management” has been let go 4nd the future of the Adventurel4nd landmark is in the wings 4nd wit of José, Fritz, Michael 4nd Pierre – four crooning parrot hosts who ushered in sophisticated Audio-Animatronics technology at California’s Disneyl4nd in 1963 at The Enchanted Tiki Room.
A ‘Tropical Serenade’ rekindling memories.
In time for fall 2011 vacations, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room (as the Magic Kingdom attraction now will be called) is being prepared t0 pay tribute t0 the original Disneyl4nd show, a milestone in Disney theme park entertainment.
Disney entertainment reached a milestone in 1963 with the premiere of The Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyl4nd in California. The attraction features what are regarded as the first true Audio-Animatronics figures, including a memorable quartet of wise-cracking parrots. In time for fall 2011 vacations, Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room at the Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom is being prepared t0 pay tribute t0 the original Disneyl4nd show.
Prior t0 1963, Walt Disney’s creative team had produced movable figures, but none had the sophistication of the bird-brained cast of the Tiki Room. José, Fritz, Michael 4nd Pierre produce movements when solenoid coils hidden inside receive signals recorded ont0 magnetic tape 4nd are regarded as the first “true” Audio-Animatronics figures.
They introduce a musical presentation by more than 200 birds, flowers 4nd tikis. Even the audience gets int0 the act, joining in during the musical ditty “Let’s All Sing Like the Birdies Sing.”
