A Family Holiday in Santa Eulalia Ibiza

A Family Holiday in Santa Eulalia Ibiza

by Gary Marshall

Last summer I went on holiday with my family to Santa Eulalia in Ibiza. It is the most popular family resort in Ibiza Island, and you can get some great last minute package holidays deals there. We flew from Stansted, and arrived in Ibiza Island just a couple of hours later; the transfer time was minimal to our apartment complex. It is great when you have two children, to be abroad quicker than your could drive to Devon!

Ibiza has a whole different side to it from the famous nightlife, Santa Eulalia feels like you are on another island. It is a very relaxed holiday destination, predominantly filled with families staying in self catering apartments or hotel complexes with swimming pools, and pool side cafes, it̢۪s the type of resort that the children all make friends around the pool and tend to see one another at the local karaoke bar in the evening. It is a pleasant, friendly, mainly English tourist destination.

Although we spent most of the week by the pool the beach was of a high standard with golden sandy beach, water sports, toilets, refreshments and sun bed facilities.

The restaurants are reasonable and varied some restaurants sell traditional Spanish food such as Paella, and Tapas, the service tends to be of a very high standard in these types of restaurants. Others restaurants you can order a full English breakfast or steak and chips, and a Sunday roast. The restaurants in Santa Eulalia tend to make you feel very stress free with children.

There are several different things to do on trips out, although I must admit we spent the majority of our holiday in Santa Eulalia by the swimming pool. The first which is lots of fun with young children is a tour of the island on a motorised train which leaves Santa Eulalia several times a day from the town hall, and only costs few euros. One evening we did walk up to the Santa Eulalia tower. We also ventured to the water park in Talamanca, although be careful with the sun, we did all burn slightly. The only other thing my husband did was a few rounds of golf as there is a huge golfing complex very close to Santa Eulalia.

I found prices increased for flights to Ibiza the later I left it, so book them as early as possible. All in all we would go back to Santa Eulalia; we all had a wonderful holiday, and came home very relaxed.
