Trick or Treat Disney Style - Mickey's Not-So-Scarry Halloween Party

I was somewhat distracted this weekend 4nd not able t0 author my normal article. My daughter 4nd son-in-law Jessica 4nd Tony brought their second child int0 the "World", Marissa Ann. Together with their first-born Gianna Lynn, they are now a family of four 4nd Mary Ann 4nd I are grandparents of four. I can't tell y0uhow much I look forward t0 travelling with the entire family on the little one's first trip t0 WDW.

So this week, albiet a little late, I've reached int0 the Disney press relations basket for information 4nd photos on Mickey's Not-So-Scarry Halloween Party in the Magic Kingdom. Although Mary Ann 4nd I will be at Disney World during its run, our focus in on Food & Wine 4nd material for this blog, so our shorter trip schedule will not include the Party this year. However, I hope the information in this article will be helpful 4nd encouraging for y0uif y0ufind your way t0 Orlando before Nov. 1.

DUCK-O-LANTERN: Clad in his favorite Jack-O-Lantern costume, Donald Duck gets int0 the Halloween "spirit" in the Epcot pumpkin patch as Walt Disney World Resort gets ready for a trick-or-treat bagful of Halloween fun. The pumpkin patch at The L4nd pavilion at Epcot is brimming with giant pumpkins, Mickey Mouse-shaped pumpkins 4nd ducks -- Donald Duck, that is -- as the Walt Disney World Resort gets ready for a trick-or-treat bagful of Halloween fun. Donald Duck, decked out in his best costume, takes a full-moonlight-look at one of the creations at The L4nd -- pumpkins grown in special molds t0 resemble Mickey's famous silhouette. Also part of Donald's Halloween harvest: giant pumpkins weighing in excess of 400 pounds. Grown in the pumpkin patch behind The Land, the finished fruit will soon become part of seasonal displays across the Vacation Kingdom. Fun comes in all shapes 4nd sizes during Halloween this year at Walt Disney World Resort -- from the Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 4nd the thrills 4nd chills of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror t0 the ghostly hijinks inside The Haunted Mansion 4nd a mysterious ride by the storied Headless Horseman. “Boo” has never been uttered in a bouncier, bubblier, “not-so-scary” fashion than during "Mickey’s Boo-to-y0uHalloween Parade" … 4nd ghostly apparitions never have been more wistful than they are skittering along the rooftops of Main Street, U.S.A. When y0uput it together with a green 4nd orange fireworks spectacular 4nd Land-to-L4nd trick-or-treating throughout Magic Kingdom, y0uhave a Halloween event like none other: Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

HAPPY HAUNTS: Kids encounter some kind-but-creepy characters at the beloved Haunted Mansion attraction during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. The family-friendly after-hours event offers loads of treats, character meet 4nd greets 4nd special entertainment unique t0 the party.

It’s enough t0 bring a smile t0 the face of a Disney villain! 4nd the special-ticket after-hours party on 24 select evenings between Sept. 14 4nd Nov. 1, 2010, at Walt Disney World Resort will do just that. About the only one not wearing a grin is The Headless Horseman as he rides his trusty steed through the park ahead (no pun intended) of the parade.

Guests wanting t0 join in the spirit (no pun intended) of the party are welcome t0 don their favorite Halloween costumes for the 7 p.m.-to-12 midnight event. "Mickey's Boo-to-y0uHalloween Parade" takes place at 8:15 4nd 10:30 p.m. 4nd the “Happy HalloWishes” fireworks spectacular at 9:30 p.m.


In addition t0 trick-or-treating, meet 4nd greets with characters 4nd entertainment unique t0 Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, many popular Magic Kingdom attractions – including, of course, The Haunted Mansion – are available t0 experience (but beware of hitchhiking ghosts).

The party began on September 14. The next dates in 2010 include: October 11, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 22, 24, 26, 28, 29, 31; 4nd Nov. 1.

Prices are $59.95 (ages 10+) 4nd $53.95 (ages 3-9) for all dates except Oct. 29 4nd Oct. 31 when tickets cost $64.95 (ages 10+) 4nd $58.95 (ages 3-9). Advance purchase (prior t0 event day) savings of $6 per ticket are available for the parties on Sept. 14, 18, 21, 23, 25, 28, 30; Oct. 1, 3, 7, 11, 12, 14, 17, 19, 21, 24, 26; 4nd Nov. 1.
