Blizzard Beach - Unmistakably Disney

Blizzard Beach - Unmistakably Disney

by Peter Whelan

Blizzard Beach is a wet adventure that is unmistakably Disney. The 66-acre water park, has a major claim to fame: Summit Plummet, the nation's tallest, fastest free-fall slide, starts at 120 feet in the air. Blizzard Beach opened in April 1995, and is a spectacular water park. Blizzard Beach is quite a bit bigger than Typhoon Lagoon. Blizzard Beach is the younger of Disney's water parks, a "ski resort" in the midst of a tropical lagoon centering on the 90-foot Mount Gushmore.

Attractions to see at Disney's Blizzard Beach include Teamboat Springs- The worlds longest family white water raft ride takes 6 passenger rafts down a twisting 1,200 foot series of rushing water falls, Wild Speed slide, Lazy River, Wave Pool, Mat Racing slide, Tube Slides, Body Slides, Family Raft Ride and interactive water play areas for younger kids. Blizzard Beach with its 17 slides, which includes the 120-foot, feet first, eight second plunge down Summit Plummet, is perhaps more action orientated than Disney's other water park Typhoon Lagoon. Being the newest water park, Blizzard Beach tends to become very crowded fairly early on in the day, and only starts to ease as guests start to depart at around 3 in the afternoon. Guests will find ski jumps, toboggan rides and slalom runs that all have been turned into water slides. There are no Fast Passes at the Disney water parks, so a 60 minute wait means a 60 minute wait.

The theme of the park is the "Disney legend" of a freak snowstorm in the area, leading to the construction of Florida's first ski resort. Naturally, the snow didn't last long, leaving behind a collection of waterlogged but snow-less ski jumps and chair lifts. Before you could say "hot cocoa," plans were underway for Florida's first ski resort. Thus the "ski resort" was reborn as a water park, with the alligator (named "Ice Gator") as mascot. Where in Florida can you see snow everywhere, but the only ice is in the soft drinks.

Disney's Blizzard Beach is the most exhilarating water park anywhere. Hours vary seasonally, with extended operating hours during the summer months, but Blizzard Beach tends to close for refurbishment during some Winter months, generally Janurary and February. I would suggest going later in the day if you want fewer people in the park. Blizzard beach gets 10 stars in my book.

Disney World Guide and Tips

Disney World Guide and Tips

Find out how affordable a Walt Disney World Vacation can be. Walt Disney World is in memory of the man who started it all, so people will know his name as long as Walt Disney World is here. When the resort opened in 1971, Shawnee Airlines began regular passenger service from Orlando's McCoy Air Force Base(now Orlando International Airport) directly to Disney World's STOLport (Short Take Off and Landing) on a daily basis, with flights lasting only a few minutes. After Walt Disney's death, the title "Walt Disney World" was chosen by Walt's brother and business partner, Roy O.

Parks

In addition to the four main theme parks, the resort contains two water parks, six golf courses, a sports complex, an auto race track, twenty resort hotels and numerous shopping, dining, and entertainment offerings. Make all your dreams come true in four uniquely themed parks, each with its own special version of Disney magic. There's also touring tips, park hours, rehab dates, and details of the minor parks. If you're staying at a Disney property and driving to the theme parks, Disney will waive the $10-a-day parking fee. Disney's practice of surprising people at the parks with fantasy adventures is what makes every guest to the Orlando theme park feel like a VIP. It's worth pointing out that much of the signage and lettering you see at the Disney theme parks is custom designed and not based on any existing fonts, particularly when it comes to major logos and attraction marquees. Disney will designate specific outdoor areas in each of its hotels for smokers, as it currently does in the theme parks.

Find Accommodation In Disney World

Find Accommodation In Disney World

by Chris Chew

It is interesting to note that every Disney World theme park have its own special personality and character. Disney World's objective is not only to entertain their visitors and tourists but also make their stay and accommodation at Disney World as pleasant as possible so that these visitors will return for more visits as well as spreading by word of mouth about their wonderful Disney World vacations. Disney World understands that word of mouth advertisemnents from happy visitors is the best advertisement and it is free.

It is for this intent and purpose that Walt Disney World now has about twenty themed vacation resorts catering to all types of guests catering their accommodation preferences as well as for different traveling budgets.

Disney World resorts are roughly divided into 5 accommodation categories. They are the deluxe class, moderate resorts, value budget types, vacation resorts, and cabins/campgrounds in the wilderness for the more adventurous visitors.

There are about ten Deluxe Disney resorts in Disney World such as those in The Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club Resort, The Contemporary Resort, The Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, The Polynesian Resort, Boardwalk Inn, The Wilderness Lodge, and Yacht Club Resort? There are also 2 deluxe class hotels such as Walt Disney World Swan and Walt Disney World Dolphin, however these hotels are not owned by Disney World.

Although some Disney resorts are rated as "moderate class", they are still far more luxurious than a ordinary hotel accommodation. Rooms in these so called moderate class resorts are very comfortable and spacious. These accomodations come with themed pools and hot tubs and full-service restaurants. The Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans Riverside Resort and Port Orleans French Quarter are the moderate Walt Disney World Resorts.

Disney World's so called value resorts offer value for money as being very affordable. These resort accommodations are built for families on smaller budgets but are also often used by tour companies for tourists traveling together in groups. Although the amenities can be considered as basic, all budget value resorts have themed swimming pools and inexpensive food courts. Accommodation at Disney value budget resorts can go as low as $80 per night. Imagine that!

These resorts are like service apartments where guests are provided with extra facilities and amenities such as a kitchen, multiple bedrooms and even valet parking thrown in. Prices can range from about $200 per night to more than $1,000 per night during peak holiday season. If you have money to burn, then you may wish to stay at The Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas, Old Key West Resort, Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa or The Villas at Wilderness Lodge.

If you enjoy the great outdoors and are more adventurous, then Walt Disney World Fort Wilderness cabins and campsites are just meant for you. The Fort Wilderness campground is home to one of Disney's most popular dinner shows, the Hoop Dee Do Revue. Guests staying in Fort Wilderness can go for nature hike, horse riding, swim, and enjoy boating on Bay Lake.

So there will be shortage of accommodation to cater to your taste and budget when you visit Disney World.
